Arm Yourself with Knowledge. Read Dr. Abou El Fadl's Books

Most people who are critical of Dr. Abou El Fadl have never read his books. They rely on hearsay from others, who also most often have not read his books. Decide for yourself. Read "The Great Theft" to understand the dynamics confronting Islam today and the differences between extremist and moderate Muslims. Read "The Search for Beauty in Islam" to discover the forgotten beauty and authenticity of the Islamic message. Read "And God Knows the Soldiers" to know what Shariah is and isn't. Read Speaking in God's Name to know more about the technicalities of the law and Dr. Abou El Fadl's approach and methodology. Read "The Place of Tolerance in Islam" or "Islam and the Challenge of Democracy" for good primers on the issues and discourses surrounding Islam and tolerance and democracy. If you don't have time to read a book, read one of the numerous articles available on Scholar of the House. Every bit helps.

Share the Knowledge with Others

Many Muslims and non-Muslims are looking for an intelligent and reasonable explanation as to why Islam and Muslims appear to be so troubled and irrational. Recommending "The Great Theft" or "The Search for Beauty in Islam" can make all the difference. We hear from readers all the time that these books changed their perceptions, their understanding, and sometimes, their lives. Tell others about Dr. Abou El Fadl, his books and Scholar of the House. Share the knowledge and the hope for peace through education and understanding.

Make A Difference at the Bookstore and Ask for Dr. Abou El Fadl's Books

Go to your local bookstore and insist they carry positive books about Islam, especially Dr. Abou El Fadl's books. Complain about the bad books. This is where people go to learn about Islam, and unfortunately, Islam-hating books dominate the bookshelves. People who know nothing about Islam but who want to learn can unknowingly purchase such damaging books, which ultimately hurts everyone. The "Islam" section is miniscule compared to sections on "Judaism," "Christianity," and virtually every other faith tradition! You can change this by making your opinion known, and more importantly, by making your financial presence felt--by buying positive books on Islam. Get to know the resident book buyer and ask him or her to buy responsibly, as there is much more at stake than profits.

Make your Financial Presence Felt at the Bookstore and with Book Publishers

Knowledge is power, but purchasing power is influence at the bookstore and with book publishers. Bookstores don't carry many good books about Islam because they don't sell. Compare the Islam section to the Judaica section and you will notice the amazing difference in how purchasing power translates into shelf space. This purchasing power affects publishers as well. Publishers will not publish books they think will not sell, and currently, the most saleable books are the Islamophobic ones. Buy as many positive books on Islam as you can! Ask for and purchase Dr. Abou El Fadl's books.

Increase knowledge and power. Buy a book for yourself and buy a book for your friend.

Buy a copy of Dr. Abou El Fadl's book for yourself and buy copies for all of your friends--you can educate yourself and increase Islam's presence at the bookstore at the same time.

Send "The Great Theft" to your Government Representatives

Send a copy of "The Great Theft" to your Senator, Congressman or local politicians and insist they read it to understand what is up with Islam today. We can educate those in power, one reader at a time.
